Who We Are

<=Home

We are composed of 650 sisters from 23 nations in the Medical Mission Sisters.   We share one mission: "To be a healing presence at the heart of a wounded world." We are women full of passion for wholeness, for justice, and for life in a world with so much suffering and pain in order to promote healing and wholeness in all aspects of life.

 We live this mission today in 19 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, among people made poor, among those who have limited or no access to health care, and among those unjustly treated or oppressed.

In the Philippines, we are 32 MMS sisters living and working in different areas:   in the North, we are in La Union and Pangasinan; in the South, we are present in Bukidnon; in Metro Manila, we are in various houses in Quezon City as well as in Antipolo City and in  Cavite City.

Drawn by God to be a healing presence in an international, intercultural community of Catholic sisters, our healing presence is expressed through a diversity of ministries: accompaniment and ministry to the youth and elderly; health care and education; wholeness and wellness programs; building of basic Christian communities; promotion of Earth’s well-being; work for justice and peace; worship and spirituality; and livelihood projects.
